KarmaHoteles.com is an independent editorial project that brings together places to stay with good karma all over Spain: hotels, hostales, country houses, B&Bs and apartments with soul. The site is free for travellers: we are funded by a small commission from our booking partners when you book through our links, at no extra cost to you. No property pays to appear in the guide.
Some places to stay are forgotten the next morning; others are remembered for years. The first kind do the job: a clean room, a breakfast, a key. The second have something more, hard to measure and easy to recognise: a stone house patiently restored, a courtyard full of light, a family who tells you where to eat and which path to take. To us, that is a hotel’s karma, and it has nothing to do with category or the number of stars.
What we do
We look for, document and describe places to stay all over Spain in detailed pages: what the place is like, which room types it has, what services it offers, what is nearby and what past guests point out. The pages are organised by region, island and town, so you can compare at your own pace and really choose, instead of booking the first thing that comes up.
How we choose
We do not publish endless lists. We start from thousands of properties and keep those backed by enough reviews from real guests, photographs and complete information, and by something that sets them apart: a story, a setting, a way of welcoming people. Those that do not meet these criteria do not make it into the guide.
A selection, not a list
Only properties with enough guest reviews, photos and complete information, and a character of their own, get in. We prefer fewer, better pages.
Cross-checked information
Every page is built from the property’s public information and its guests’ reviews. Prices and availability change: you always see them up to date on the booking site.
For every traveller
A country house to unwind, a central hostal for a city break, a seaside hotel for the whole family: karma is not a question of budget.
Properties do not pay to be in the guide and cannot buy what we write about them. When a place does not convince us, it simply does not appear.
Our independence and transparency
KarmaHoteles.com is funded through affiliate links: if you book through our links, the booking partner may pay us a small commission. The price you pay is exactly the same, and the commission does not change what we write or which properties we choose. If a property is ever featured on the homepage under a commercial agreement, we will say so clearly.
We write every page from the property’s own information and its guests’ reviews. Even so, a page may contain errors, and prices, services and conditions change over time: always check the important details before booking. We explain everything in our disclaimer.
Why “KarmaHoteles”?
Because karma is what you feel as you walk through the door. It is the light of an Andalusian courtyard in the middle of the morning, the silence of a stone house in the mountains, a breakfast made with produce from the village, the owner who waits up for you even when you arrive late. It has nothing to do with size or luxury: there are five-star hotels without karma and hostales with a handful of rooms you never forget. We look for places with good energy, the ones that stand out from the usual.
Where we are today
The guide covers the whole of Spain, from the mainland to the Balearic and Canary Islands. Today it brings together more than 23 000 places to stay in more than 3 000 towns and villages across 17 autonomous communities, and it can be read in 9 languages.
You can explore it by region, by island, by town or by type of accommodation. Every page takes you to the booking site to see the price and availability for your dates. And we keep adding properties and destinations.
Do you run a place with karma?
We like getting to know people who do hospitality with care. Write to us through our contact page — also if you spot something that is not correct on one of our pages.
Write to usFrequently asked questions
Is KarmaHoteles.com a booking site?
No. We are an editorial guide: we do not handle bookings or payments. When you choose a property, the link takes you to our booking partner’s site, where you see the final price and complete your booking.
Does it cost anything to use the site?
No. Browsing the guide is free, and booking through our links costs nothing extra: you pay the same as you would by going directly to the booking site.
What do you mean by a hotel with karma?
A place to stay with character and good energy, the kind you remember: for the building, the setting, the way you are welcomed. It can be a boutique hotel, a country house, a family-run hostal or an apartment with a view: it does not depend on category or price.
Which areas does the guide cover?
The whole of Spain: the autonomous communities on the mainland, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands. You can start from the regions page.
